CHERYL HAMLIN
TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Cheryl Hamlin received her BS in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh and her MS in Reading Education from State University of New York Albany. She has worked at Greene Correctional Facility from 1999 to the present as an ABE teacher. She has taught countless students many who have gone on to obtain their high school equivalency diploma. She has mentored new teachers, many who are still on staff at Greene.
Cheryl has served as a GED Testing Coordinator as well as an O.P.T. Testing Coordinator at Greene. She is currently on the Curriculum Review Committee, which is revising and rewriting the reading, writing, and technology curriculum to meet the New York State Standards.
Cheryl is a member of CEANY and serves as a board member on that committee. She is also an ACA member and served as Secretary of the Region III CAYSA Committee for 5 years. She has assisted with CEANY and CAYSA conference planning and has served at many conferences with incarcerated youth and education.
